there is no question that every case is different, but isn't

they be a better bet to hit a home run on any given day, then
some guy who hadn't hit a home run all year? |

sense to look at attorneys in the same manner. Although we talk
about cases in which "nobody wins", there are indeed winners,
and there are also losers. Everything else being equal,
who would not choose the lawyer with the better of the two track
records to argue for them in court? Yet how many people conduct
any real inquiry into the past performance record of the
individual to whom they are about to entrust so much that is
dear to them? Be assured, none but the prudent! |

what we will report about the lawyer you want to screen. |

| You will
receive any releasable disciplinary or complaint record held by
the State Bar of Nevada. It just common sense to stay away from
a lawyer who has trouble following the rules. But, never be
lulled into thinking that the absence of a complaint to the
State Bar is a guarantee that the attorney is either ethical or
competent. |

| You will
receive his or her win-lose record for the last 10 cases that
were tried to a win or lose verdict. Obviously, these are
interesting statistics, but they could be very misleading and
must be used with caution. |

|
| Many
lawyers save clients thousands of dollars in legal fees by
negotiating a favorable settlement rather than continuing to
battle in court. Such a lawyer's solid performance might not
be echoed in a lackluster win-lose record. |

|
| On the
other hand, there are lawyers who win huge judgments and
(simultaneously collect huge legal fees) only to
"learn" that the judgment debtor has no money!
Such an attorney might have a great batting average, but be a
terrible disappointment to many who retain him. |

|
| You will
receive the most meaningful input from former clients who this
lawyer represented at trial. Here we will report everything from
the type of case that was tried, to the two key questions. |

| Were
you satisfied with the attorney's performance? |
|
|
| Considering
the quality of service, were the charges fair? |
|
|
