The first definition (in blue) was not our original definition.  There were a few before that. After negotiations with state officials, that too was changed. the Final Proposed Definition (in black below) was voted on by the Nevada State Senate.

 

“Computer Forensics Examiner” means a person who engages in the business of or
accepts employment in using specialized computer techniques for the recovery or
analysis of digital information from any computer or digital storage device,
excluding the investigative techniques used by a private investigator. The term
“computer forensic examiner” does not include a private investigator or a computer
repair person who engages in the mere repair or recovery of hardware, software or
electronic data.

Final Proposed Definition


“Computer Forensics Examiner” means a person who engages
in the business of, or accepts employment, using specialized
computer techniques for the recovery or analysis of digital
information from any computer or digital storage device. Those
techniques exclude the investigative techniques and
methodology generally used by private investigators. The term
“computer forensic examiner” does not apply to a computer
repair person who engages in the mere repair or recovery of
hardware, software or electronic data, for non-forensic
purposes.”
